I liked its really accommodating employees.
The guest room was new-fashioned with 1970 bathrooms.

The hotel was clean and the staff were outstandingly accommodating. The room was reasonably large and brand-new with a portable heater for company as well as spacious bathroom, friendly service. The location was good, for example, St Peter's Church was just a pleasant stroll away from the venue;))

A great looking and sounding hotel on the website but the reality is quite different. Our five day stay left us feeling underwhelmed. It failed to meet our expectations having paid a premium price for what we felt was a two to three star experience.
Location in Wallingford is great, very central to the town and as a starting point for exploring places around it. The bar is nice and cosy with older world charm.
Way over-priced. Room looked old and tired and in need of serious renovation/updating (plus threadbare carpets, wonky lamp shades..). Staff lacked energy, motivation and good customer engagement skills. Very limited on-site parking that is competed for by hotel residents and bar customers.

The food was very good. Breakfast freshly cooked. Food in bar and bistro very good
It is a hotel that is centuries old. You do not have to expect a modern finish.

Convenient location with a short stroll to the River Thames, which could be pleasant for leisure walks. The hotel maintains a certain charm that harkens back to previous visits-somewhere that feels familiar, if not entirely polished.
Check-in is a hassle since no one's at the reception, and you have to call in for assistance. This leads to an awkward wait and uncertainty. Stair access to the rooms is a bit of a trek, and for anyone not spry, lugging luggage up and down multiple flights doesn't exactly scream comfort. The showers leave much to be desired-essentially unusable due to missing seals and a lack of bath mats making for a slippery exit. Plus, the windows barely open, limiting airflow on warmer days. The decor and facilities seem stuck in a different era, and some amenities feel dated or worn out. It could really benefit from a thoughtful refresh.

We loved the stay, it was a great experience. Clean and attractive place and the breakfast was sensational. Everything was great, nonetheless a few employees were clearly inexperienced. You could leave a car onsite. The location was handy, at a medium distance from Wallingford Market Square.
The breakfast certainly should have been included.
